Biography
Joseph Engerer received his law degree from Michigan State University College of Law and a Bachelor of Science in political science from Grand Valley State University. He worked as a litigator in the insurance defense field representing several major carriers before joining the offices of Helmkamp, Ellis, and Abraham in 2017. This experience gave him valuable insight into handling cases against large and often powerful insurance companies.
Unlike so many “billboard attorneys,” Mr. Engerer strives to establish long-term relationships with clients and invites you to think of him as “your lawyer,” someone to whom you can turn first when life presents both difficult challenges and unique opportunities.
Joseph serves his clients in the following matters:
Prior to practicing law, Joseph clerked for Michigan Supreme Court Justice Brian K. Zahra, interned as a policy analyst with the Michigan House of Representatives and worked in Michigan politics.
Joseph currently resides in Northville, Michigan with his wife and three young children. He enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, and reading. During the summer months you can often find him working outside on the landscaping at home or at the law office’s beautiful downtown Northville location.
